Monastir is approximately 160 kilometers south east of Tunis, perfectly situated in the south of the Gulf of Hammamet.
Originally a fishing port Monastir is now a highly popular resort with beautiful beaches and a wonderful mix of the old and the new. There are plenty of activities you can enjoy including scuba diving and – for the brave – parasailing.
The town offers hints of it’s rich history with features such as ancient walls, a small medina and the Ribat, which has appeared in several international film productions. The Mausoleum is also well worth visiting.
The marina remains a great place to sit back, enjoy the scenery and watch daily life unfold. Wonderful for people watching. The Ribat watchtower offers fantastic views out over town and beyond, and there is also a museum on the grounds.
